As I mentioned on the home page, the original idea was that I would write a book about the sixth age of man in Middle Earth. If I remember correctly, the trilogy takes place in the third age but ends at the beginning of the fourth. With magic basically gone, the elves and wizards leaving after all the fuss made by the One Ring, technology has a chance to rise. Meanwhile, wherever the elves ended up (turns out the Undying Land) they continue to procreate, and eventually, some of their offspring decide against staying away and move back. However, they realize that over the ages, the reputation of elves has been reduced to a lowly race responsible for the problems the world faced and were shunned by humans and dwarves. They were immediately considered second-class citizens in the places they were allowed.
The character that would become Jason Neverin would travel to prove the worth of elves. He had one friend, a dwarf that would eventually become Mike Understone. After that, there really wasn't much detail into the plot line or the setting. The only other idea I had was that Hobbits as a population would be compared to our Amish.
Eventually, though I'm still no scholar of LOTR or the other books, I did learn a little more about it and realized that my plan wouldn't really work. And of course there was the fact that I would never be able to get the rights to do it, not to mention the pressure the capture what the original books had. I realized what an impossible task I was setting up for myself.
So I decided to '50 Shades of Grey' it up. I had created the basis for a fan fiction story, and all I had to do was change it up enough so that it was original. And I assure you, that is the only way that 'The Drow' will be compared to '50 Shades.'
